3 most anticipated matches to look forward to at WWE Backlash

After a monumental WrestleMania 41, the first PLE after the grandest stage of WWE(Backlash), is set to take place at St. Louis, Missouri, on 10th of May. The 20th edition of WWE Backlash promises to be better and bigger than ever, with mouth-watering contests and some huge shocks in store for the WWE Universe and audience present at the Enterprise Centre, at St Louis. Among the plethora of exciting clashes, there are a few marquee matches that the WWE fans are most excited to watch.
Here are the three most anticipated matches at WWE backlash 2025
1. US Championship “Fatal-Four Way” match
The United States Championship, freshly won by Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 41, is set to be online in a fatal four way match at Backlash. At the recent episode of WWE SmackDown, it was decided that the US Championship will be fought between the likes of Damien Priest, Drew McIntyre, LA Knight and the Champion Jacob Fatu at Backlash in an electric contest. While fatal four way matches are always exciting to watch, this clash has an extra layer of spice added to it, as it has few of the most dominant and dangerous superstars in WWE involved in the match up.
2. Gunther vs Pat McAfee
Renowned announcer and WWE commentator, Pat McAfee was brutally attacked and left unconscious by the former World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther on the first RAW episode after WrestleMania. First, the “Ring General” attacked Michael Cole and when McAfee tried to save Michael, Gunther went bonkers and held Pat in a ‘Sleeper Hold’. He kept him in the hold until Pat was completely unconscious, even though there were a lot of security officers and staff stopping him. No McAfee wants revenge from the former World Champion and after announcing the challenge, it was provided to him at WWE Backlash, where he faces Gunther.
3. Undisputed WWE Championship match
Arguably the most awaited match of WWE Backlash 2025 would be the Undisputed WWE Title match between archrivals, John Cena and Randy Orton. The two have enjoyed a fierce rivalry back in the day, for over two decades. Now with former WWE Champion Rhodes out on a hiatus, his close friend Orton has stepped up to challenge the record 17 times World Champion Cena. The WWE Universe would be just as excited for this clash as the early 2010s, when these two were young, more energetic and enthralled the audience with their electrifying matches.
